LOS ANGELES, March 2, 2007 - Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., is in Los Angeles Friday to try to boost ticket sales for a March 24 fund-raiser and make a public weekend appearance with Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, according to published reports.
Clinton, whose Southland visit is her second in nine days, will attend a dinner Friday night hosted by billionaire broadcasting mogul Haim Saban aimed at supporters who commit to raising at least $25,000 each for the March 24 event, Daily Variety reported on its Web site. Saban hosted a brunch for Clinton at his Beverly Hills home Feb. 22.
Clinton's supporters are hoping to top the $1.3 million Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., raised at a celebrity-studded reception in Beverly Hills Feb. 20.
Clinton is scheduled to appear with Villaraigosa Saturday, The New York Times and Variety reported. The event reportedly will be at City Hall.
