Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton may have been the subject of a nasty online ad devised by a Barack Obama supporter, but a Zogby poll shows that the mean-spirited ploy may have scored her some votes.
A recent Zogby Interactive poll of likely Democratic voters shows most respondents won’t be swayed by the online parody that depicts the New York senator as Big Brother.
Two-thirds of likely Democratic primary voters who watched the online parody said it will not change their opinions of presidential candidates Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York and Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois.
The remaining one-third of likely primary voters were three times more likely to favor Clinton over Obama after seeing the video, the survey shows. Twenty-one percent said they were either offended or bothered by the video, and that it made them more likely to support Clinton as a result.
The March 19 poll consisted of 1,805 people who viewed the video before answering questions.
The parody is a spoof on an Apple Computer ad based on the novel “1984.” In the video, Clinton’s likeness is spliced into an image of “Big Brother” speaking to zombies.
